Let ENECML manage your COMA

Control, Operation and Maintenance Agreements

Due to the development of electrification processes, our customers are finding that their need for average industrial and commercial power supply has increased, where 240V or 3 phase power supply was once sufficient, customers are finding that they need to take their power supply from the local distribution network (the grid) at High Voltage (6.6kV or 11kV) due to needing bigger equipment to support the increase in power.

When operating at High Voltage (HV), the users must comply with the Electricity at Work Act and Health and Safety at Work Regulations which ensures a safe network for their employees and their business. Electricity North East (Construction & Maintenance) can help customers to facilitate and overcome these changes by offering and managing a COMA (Control, Operation and Maintenance agreements)

With a COMA, we ensure that you have all of the policies, procedures and operational systems in place in order for the HV network to operate safely so you can concentrate on running your business. We have a team of Design Engineers, Senior Authorised Persons (SAPs) and technicians on hand who will help you develop and run your network in an efficient manor, whilst providing safe access and managing the overall operations and maintenance of the system.

Our Policies protect you and our Senior Authorised Engineers, providing confidence and compliance.

Safety is our main concern when running a safe and reliable HV network, which is why we have produced over 500 electrical policies and codes of practice as well as individual procedures that are put to use every day by our operatives. Due to legislative policy requirements, we understand that the vast majority of our customers do not have the time and cost required to train, maintain and manage an informed team of skilled HV operatives.

One Agreement – Multiple Services:

Alongside our specialist High Voltage teams, we have a fully qualified and experienced in-house Low Voltage Engineering team. By adding LV Maintenance within the COMA agreement, we will seamlessly manage the overall maintenance activity on your site.

Through dedicated Low Voltage resource, we can conduct a full review and maintenance of your network from your incomer only or including the primary panels, PFC and all the network including Electrical Condition
Reports (Fixed wire test).

Benefits:

·      Reduced downtime as we will plan the LV service activities in line with your HV maintenance to ensure everything is done at the same time where possible

·      One point of contact for any questions form your HV to LV infrastructure

·      Maintenance in line with manufacturers guidelines and compliant with the Electricity at work regulations

·      Work to be carried out to suit production and site demands

We developed COMA to give customers a simple and affordable way around these challenges.

Let us help you by becoming an extension to your team, the HV Engineering Department of your business. We will ensure that the system is regularly inspected, cleaned, maintained and operating efficiently whilst you continue to own all the assets and equipment of your network. We can simply be on hand for our presence if there are key changes in the business, such as a new machine going live, there’s an important order in production or if we are needed to oversee a match day. And of course, we are only a phone call away if you need advice, have a fault or need part of the power turning off or re-routing – we will then be on site ready to help.
Process of engagement for your COMA Agreement

1. Contact one of our specialist account managers will arrange to come out, meet you, see your business in operation and with you understand your needs.
2. We will then develop a specific COMA contract to meet your needs and requirements and provide you with a quotation.
3. If you are keen to progress then we will work with you to acquire all the technical information needed to efficiently operate and maintain your network (don’t worry if you don’t have all of this information, we recognise many of our customer by default adopt their HV network, and we can work with you to bring everything up to a safe and suitable level).
4. Once the commercial contracts are in place one of our HV field engineers or Senior Authorised Persons (SAPs) as they are commonly know will then visit site to undertake the technical adoption process.
5. From that very moment once technically adopted, that’s it, you can relax knowing that we’ve joined your team and are on hand all the way the help.
